Ice jams can be very dangerous, even changing the course of a river

Ice jam on the Ausable River in Au Sable Forks NY. Video starts at noon (17:00Z) and ends at 3pm (20:00Z). They happen fast!Last week, a weather pattern known as a bomb cyclone set record low temperatures across the eastern part of the US and pounded cities and countryside with inches of snow. Rivers across the northeast were also frozen solid by the chilly weather. This week, the temperatures bounced back up to nearly 60 degrees in some places, melting the snow and defrosting the rivers rapidly. When this kind of change in temperature happens, ice jams can occur, like this one in the Ausable River, captured in a time lapse by the National Weather Service Office in Burlington, Vermont. The video encompasses only three hours, and the ice begins to break apart and then flow down the river in only a fraction of that time. Philippine Volcano Explodes in Column of Ash and Superheated Lava

The Philippines' most active volcano ejected a huge column of lava fragments, ash and smoke in a thunderous explosion Monday, sending thousands of villagers back to evacuation centers and prompting a warning that a violent eruption may be imminent.The midday explosion sent superheated lava, molten rocks and steam between 3.5 to 5 kilometers (2 to 3 miles) into the blue sky, and then some cascaded down Mount Mayon's slopes and shrouded nearby villages in darkness, Renato Solidum of the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology and other officials said.From the crater, the deadly debris billowed about three kilometers (1.8 miles) down on the southern plank of Mayon toward a no-entry danger zone. There were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries, officials said.The explosion was the most powerful since the volcano started acting up more than a week ago.Due to its relatively gentle eruption last week, thousands left emergency shelters and returned to their communities…

Sous:
     1 1/2 eetlepel canola olie
     1/2 ui, blokkies gesny
     1/2 eetlepel fyn gemaalde vars gemmer
     2 knoffelhuisies, fyngekap
     1/4 teelepel rooi peper
     1/8 teelepel swartpeper
     1/2 koppie asyn
     1/4 koppie water
     3 gram tamatiepasta
     1/4 koppie soya sous
     2 eetlepels sesame olie
     1 koppie suiwer esdoornstroop
     1 1/2 eetlepel druiwe asyn
     1/8 teelepel gedroogde tiemie
     1/2 eetlepel sout


Rub:
     1/4 koppie(soet) paprika (gebruik 1/2 pimento as jy lus is vir 'n rokerige geur)
     1/2 koppie bruinsuiker
     1 eetlepel swartpeper
     1 eetlepel knoffel poeier
     2 teelepels komyn
     2 teelepels sout
     2 teelepels rooi peper
     1 teelepel droë mosterd
     1/2 teelepel gedroogde oregano
Meng alles en hou eenkant

Metode:
Verhit die olie oor medium hitte.
Voeg dan die ui, knoffel, gemmer, rooi peper en swartpeper by.
